apawfive
Expressing a culture of harmony between humans and animals.

Project Summary
apawfive is a community-driven platform created by two humans sharing real-life experiences with their dogs—many of them community animals—to help people better understand animals and pet parenting.
The project focused on shaping a digital presence that reflected warmth, honesty, and lived experience, while clearly positioning apawfive as an education and storytelling platform rather than an animal shelter or NGO.
The Challenge
Despite strong content and engagement, new visitors often misunderstood apawfive’s intent.
Key challenges included:
Avoiding NGO or donation-driven perceptions
Preserving authenticity without over-polishing
Letting photography and stories lead the experience
Building clarity without introducing marketing friction
The site needed to feel personal, calm, and community-led.
Our Approach
The design approach prioritised storytelling over conversion mechanics.
Key decisions included:
Editorial-style layouts that encourage exploration
Minimal copy supporting strong photography
Soft typography and neutral colours to maintain warmth
Clear messaging to distinguish apawfive from shelters or rescues
The experience was designed to feel like an open invitation, not a campaign.
The final website presents apawfive as a thoughtful, story-first platform grounded in real relationships with animals.
The homepage establishes intent through lived moments, not slogans
Content flows naturally between stories, moments, and community
The brand voice remains intimate, approachable, and educational
The result is a space that feels human, honest, and unmistakably apawfive.
The redesigned site clarified apawfive’s identity, reduced brand confusion, and created a scalable foundation for ongoing storytelling—without sacrificing its emotional core.
