Project Summary
Ella Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by Dr. Krishna Ella and Mrs. Suchitra Ella, who returned to India despite lucrative opportunities in the US, to found Bharat Biotech, in a less than friendly start-up ecosystem about two decades ago.
We knew right away that this story would be the key to unlocking an interesting and compelling brand identity for Ella Foundation.
Our Role
We functioned as Ella Foundation's lead UI/UX and brand designer, and copywriter, collaborating on design and development solutions throughout the project cycle.
Our responsibilities included planning and requirements gathering, concept ideation, brand and visual design, prototyping, and design implementation.
The Challenge
The Ellas are driven by pure innovation. Both with the Ella Foundation and Bharat Biotech, there's an urgency about starting from scratch, about pioneering new and disruptive solutions. They've shown a strong reluctance to adapt general market models for their solutions, and this sentiment is emphasised in Dr. Krishna Ella's desire to always be 'atmanirbhar', which translates (from Hindi to English) to being 'self-reliant'.
We knew our goals - to craft a visual design and brand voice reflective of the Ellas' passion for innovation and self-reliance.
Trivia
Ella Foundation was established by the co-founders of Bharat Biotech, the makers of India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, and the world's first instranasal, non-invasive COVID-19 vaccine, iNCOVACC.
